Myla is an upper-class teenager in modern-day Azteca, partying her days away with her friends. On her 17th birthday, she is finally told the dark truth about the society in which she lives.
On the same night, she finds herself in the hands of Aztec’s rebels and their leader, Tezca. Myla must now decide whether to join them or trick them into letting her go.
Now a 20-year-old classics major at the University of Chicago, Val is an active writer, performer and producer, with a specialty in comedy. Her writing has garnered more than two dozen writing awards and she has had three of her plays staged.
In Chicago, Val is a mainstay of Off-Off Campus, the oldest collegiate sketch and improv troupe in the country. She has opened for major headliners such as Jerrod Carmichael, and she interned the summer of 2017 at Second City.
Before college, Val volunteered as an EMT at her local hospital, and was named the Horace Mann Idol by her school for her offbeat banjo-playing.
